-
Time frame: All papers and documentation must
be presented at the State office no later than 2 working days prior to the
wedding.
All the requirements must be accomplished
before returning home. It may save you a lot of long distance calls, or a return
trip and/or lots of frustration at a later time. It is difficult sometimes to
conduct legal business by long distance. Just as in the United States or any
other country, there are certain requirements to accomplish before a marriage
license is given or recognized as legal. It is wise to talk to an attorney in
the country were you live (before the wedding) for any particular registration
seals that are needed on the legal document from a foreign country (Mexico).
After the ceremony we will get the official document from the judge and we will
send it immediately to Chetumal (capital of Quintana Roo) in order to legalize
it. We have to be sure that the right address is written in the file from the
couple so we can send them the document as soon as we get it back from Chetumal.
