Birth Certificates with an “Apostille” attached
If you are American, you need an “Apostille”, which is a form of international
certification. You have to request it to an authority from the state where they
originated (usually the Secretary of State), who attaches this “Apostille” to
the document. You will need to send your birth certificates to the Secretary of
State where you were born.
-
You should enclose a letter stating that you
are getting married in Mexico and that you need an Apostille. They will then
return the documents to you.
-
In case you are a Canadian Citizen, you must
get your birth certificates legalized by the Mexican Embassy or Consulate in
Canada.
-
The Judge keeps the birth certificates, so we
recommend you to bring certified copies rather than the originals.
-
Divorce decree (in case you are divorced)
-
Tourist cards - which every foreigner obtains
on the aircraft on the way down to Mexico.
-
Please note that the judge will NOT perform the

the hotel in Mexico and it costs $ 150 USD per couple (to be paid in cash to the
doctor).
-
4 Witnesses with their picture ID
and a copy of their tourist card, which they will receive on the airplane.
-
In case you do not bring any
witnesses, the hotel will be happy to provide them.
